● Debut of the “Rock-Solid Architecture” – Incorporating three core technologies: Immutable System, KARE Compatibility Environment, and Kaiming Package Format, significantly enhancing system-level stability while ensuring broad application compatibility.

● New UKUI 4.20 Desktop – Featuring a dynamic lighting engine and AI-enhanced experience, bringing immersive interaction.

● Developer SDK upgraded to 3.0 – With 273 new APIs, deeply optimized for UKUI and the wlcom compositor.

● Broader hardware support – Compatible with over 100 terminal devices from Lenovo KaiTian, Cancon, and SpacemiT, among others.

openKylin 2.0 SP2 Feature Highlights

1. Continuous Stability with Kernel 6.6

SP2 further optimizes and enhances the 6.6 stable kernel, merging 10,000+ upstream patches and kernel-level optimizations. With support from community members, compatibility has been extended to:

● Hygon C86-4G series processors

● Phytium D3000 series

● Zhaoxin KX-7000 series

● Loongson 3A6000 series

● Glenfly Arise2 GPUs

● HAOC by Zhongguancun Laboratory

Additionally, contributions from RISC-V vendors such as UltraRISC Technology are pushing forward kernel-level adaptation based on openKylin 6.6, marking a solid step toward a unified RISC-V kernel ecosystem.

2. Major Leap in AI Capabilities

SP2 introduces an upgraded AI subsystem and AI Assistant, positioning openKylin as a comprehensive intelligent desktop hub.

● Cloud AI Models: Integrated support for DeepSeek, Baidu ERNIE Bot, Alibaba Qwen, SenseTime, iFLYTEK Spark, Baichuan, and more. Users can connect with a simple API key.

3. Full Rollout of the “Rock-Solid Architecture”

At its core, the Rock-Solid Architecture builds an immutable system environment while providing ecosystem compatibility and management technologies. It balances system stability and security with user habits and application richness.

It is powered by three key components:

● Immutable System

● KARE Compatibility Environment

● Kaiming Package Format

Together, they effectively address upgrade and compatibility challenges common in traditional Linux distributions, enabling more secure and efficient evolution.

4. wlcom Compositor Enhancements

The Wayland SIG group continues to refine wlcom, delivering smoother performance, richer functionality, and superior stability for Wayland-based desktop experiences.

5. UKUI 4.20 Desktop Environment

Based on the design principles of lightweight perception from UKUI 4.0, UKUI 4.20 centers on four core goals: smoother interactions, smarter experiences, more personalized configurations, and a more secure foundation. It reconstructs desktop interactions across five optimization dimensions, delivering a more efficient, intelligent, and user-friendly desktop experience.

● Immersive Extension of Lightweight Visuals

UKUI 4.20 introduces a dynamic lighting engine, achieving a leap from ‘seeing clearly’ to ‘understanding intuitively,’ making the interface more visually appealing and interactions more natural.
