openKylin Community July 2026 Operations Report

    In the height of summer July, open source work continues with dedication. In July 2026, the OpenAtom openKylin (referred to as "openKylin") community steadily advanced its various construction efforts, achieving solid results in technology R&D, ecosystem expansion, community operations, and basic services. The community officially pushed the fourth update of openKylin 2.0 SP2, completed the adaptation of the openKylin version of PocketClaw smart hardware, and held the 2026 openKylin Leading Application Practice Case Selection; at the same time, the community added multiple new industry members, actively participated in various industry exhibitions, and simultaneously upgraded the community operations platform functions and service capabilities. The overall operations of the openKylin community in July 2026 are as follows:

SIG Group Progress

    This month, 830 valid PRs were submitted and 136 repository forks were made; 5 public SIG group meetings were held. To date, the community has accumulated over 25,900 valid PRs, 12,596 repository forks, and has held 451 public SIG group meetings. 

    ➢SIG Group Active Updates: 

    This month, 59 SIG groups were active, with an active ratio of 37%. SIG group activity distribution map (darker colors indicate more active, reference dimensions: PR, Issue, SIG meetings, member introduction, ecosystem adaptation, etc.).

    ➢Representative SIG Group Monthly Updates: 

    RISC-V SIG 

  • Completed the adaptation of the air gesture project on the RISC-V architecture, and successfully implemented air gesture functionality on the SpacemiT K3 development board
  • Conducted in-depth optimization of the CRC32 checksum part of the RISC-V xz-utils compression tool, achieving a 20% performance improvement in compression speed

    X-TeeOS SIG 

  • File system: Completed POSIX permission checks, kext4 became the default ext4 backend, and optimized journal and write-back performance
  • Kernel capabilities: Implemented EEVDF scheduling, vfork, improved futex, poll, process exit, and signal handling
  • Network and security: Completed IPv4/UDP integration, added Trusty IPC, TIPC, and vsock-TIPC bridge
  • Platform support: Enhanced KVMM multi-virtual machine capabilities, advanced support for RK3588, RISC-V, LoongArch64
  • Engineering quality: Added /proc/lock_stat, improved unit tests, CI, and build processes

    AgentOS SIG 

  • Version iteration and stability improvement: Released six versions consecutively this month, focusing on fixing issues such as agent runtime installation/update source problems, offline deployment, model download failures, theme following system anomalies, and input box focus loss, significantly improving system stability and user experience
  • CUA agent improvements: CUA (Computer Use Agent) agent adapted to the Wayland environment, unified use of the main model with automatic configuration support, significantly improving execution speed
  • Added new AIPC-related Skills, expanding the agent system's operational capabilities
  • Core functional module improvements: Memory module, supporting automatic extraction and storage of user profiles in sessions; scheduled tasks, adding proactive greetings and scheduled task notification capabilities; session management, optimizing session switching performance, adding message queuing, editing, deletion, and developer view functions

    ROS SIG 

  • ROS build chain: Identified the root cause of 180 ROS packages being stalled on openKylin SP2, fixed issues such as catkin-pkg missing test dependencies, ament-cmake-core missing build environment variables, ros-workspace missing imports, and non-standard repository branches; the core chain (ament toolchain, Python toolchain) built successfully on all four architectures, unblocking 176 packages, and the system entered automatic rebuild
  • Batch defect investigation and fixes: Fixed common defects in the source package generation mechanism (quilt patches unable to carry empty files, causing loss of resource markers, empty __init__.py, etc.) affecting 37 pure Python packages, batch rebuilt empty file lists and uniformly fixed and pushed them, all verified effective on built architectures
  • Standards and planning: Unified package version number standard to the okN series and completed existing inventory migration; established CI build/ tags as the packaging success criterion; completed the gap inventory for desktop layer extensions (approximately 150+ source packages), and evaluated the adaptation path for the new ROS version Lyrical with openKylin 3.0

  • Merged Loongson vendor patches

  • Fixed critical CVE security vulnerabilities

    CompatWinApp SIG 

  • Updated wine-assistant to v5.1.3, supporting installation of Adobe Photoshop 2021

    Framework SIG 

  • CMake IntelliSense plugin: Completed LSP text incremental synchronization, achieving performance improvements, released version 0.8.1
  • Kylin Clangd plugin: Completed obtaining compile commands from CMake Tools when no compile database is found, with clangd caching compile database generation information for a better experience, released version 0.6.2

    OakVideoEditor SIG 

  • Completed proxy editing, audio synchronization, and LUT support features
  • Completed listing of the video editing application on the openKylin software store

    RapidAI SIG 

  • Released rapidocr v3.9.2, improving support for various inference engines of PP-OCRv6
  • Released label_convert v0.3.0, supporting conversion from YOLOv8 to COCO format, and optimized the documentation site
Version Progress

    1. Officially pushed a new round of updates for openKylin 2.0 SP2. This update focuses on system stability, centrally fixing nearly 400 defects found in community user feedback and internal testing, covering multiple key modules such as AI functions, software store, system updates, desktop environment, network connections, and hardware peripherals.

  • Jointly completed the openKylin version of PocketClaw smart hardware adaptation and customization optimization with Open Source China.

Software and Hardware Ecosystem

    Oak Video Editor completed adaptation with the openKylin operating system 

    OakVideoEditor is an open-source, free non-linear video editor. The project is committed to providing users with a professional-grade video editing experience and is currently in active development, with core focus on color workflows, audio synchronization, and 4K/8K performance optimization.

2026 openKylin Leading Application Practice Case Selection

    The National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, together with the openKylin community, organized the ""Xinhuo Cup"" - 2026 openKylin Leading Application Practice Case Collection. A total of 12 ""2026 openKylin Leading Application Practice (Scale-type)"" cases and 13 ""2026 openKylin Leading Application Practice (Innovation-type)"" cases were selected.

Community Activities

    openKylin participated in the 3rd Graduate Operating System Competition and OpenAtom Competition Tsinghua University Station 

    On July 2, the 3rd China Graduate Operating System Open Source Innovation Competition and OpenAtom Competition Operating System Special Competition university promotion series was held at Tsinghua University. Li Zhuohang, Maintainer of the openKylin RISC-V SIG, provided an in-depth analysis of the competition topics set by the community.

    openKylin appeared at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference  

    From July 17 to 20, the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference was grandly held in Shanghai. openKylin, through results releases and joint exhibitions, prominently showcased software-hardware collaborative solutions featuring deep adaptation between open source operating systems and domestic chips, and the stable operation of local offline large models, comprehensively demonstrating the community's AI ecosystem construction achievements.

    From July 9 to 11, the Photosynthesis Organization 2026 Intelligent Computing Application Conference was held at the Zhengzhou International Cultural Exchange Center. openKylin exhibited AI operating system innovation achievements powered by the Hygon C86 platform in the AI+ Industry Development exhibition area, fully interpreting the collaborative innovation value of ""chip + open source OS + local AI"".

    openKylin participated in the Launch Ceremony of the Global Regional Competition of the Direct to Wuzhen Global Internet Competition 

    On July 23, the launch ceremony of the Global Regional Competition of the 2026 Direct to Wuzhen Global Internet Competition was held in Shanghai. The event announced the competition promotion plan and held a partner certification session, with openKylin receiving the competition's Open Source Ecosystem Partner certificate.

    openKylin participated in the AGIROS Developer Conference 

    On July 24, the AGIROS Developer Conference was grandly held in Beijing. The openKylin community officially joined the AGIROS ecosystem as a sixth batch signatory member, working together with numerous industry partners to promote the collaborative development of the open source ecosystem in the robotics field.

  • Ecosystem Compatibility Adaptation Module Launched

    The platform launched the ecosystem compatibility adaptation module, connecting the entire process of adaptation application, verification, certificate issuance, and official website publication, achieving standardized and transparent one-stop ecosystem adaptation services.

  • Points System Upgrade

    The community points system has been fully upgraded, adding more than ten types of automatic points scenarios, covering diverse community interaction behaviors, broadening points acquisition channels, and increasing user enthusiasm for community participation.

    The platform added a fun lucky draw system. Users can earn draw opportunities by completing designated community tasks, enriching the community experience with fun benefit gameplay.

Platform Maintenance and Content Updates

    This month, the platform carried out mirror maintenance, content tool iteration, and contribution data module optimization: added openKylin 2.0 SP2 AgentOS download statistics; adjusted navigation links, added ueditor conversion scripts, and cleaned up SIG icons; added proxy interfaces to solve cross-domain issues, merged SIG quarterly dashboards, and optimized contribution comparison page styles and field display.

  • System monitoring: Real-time system monitoring to promptly discover and resolve potential system issues, ensuring the stable operation of the community platform.
  • User feedback: Timely collection and analysis of user opinions, continuously optimizing products and improving user satisfaction.
  • Security updates: Weekly security checks and updates to ensure platform data security and user privacy protection.
  • Security hardening: All services have been configured with security acceleration and cloud protection to ensure the safe operation of all services.
